Brian Ortega is a Mexican-American mixed martial artist who competes in the featherweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) at present. Since 2010, he has also competed in the RFA, where he was the Featherweight Champion. He fought the reigning UFC featherweight champion, Max Holloway, in his first-ever title shot at UFC 321 in the main event. Ortega suffered his very first UFC defeat against Max on 9th December 2018.   • He faced Frankie Edgar on March 3, 2018, at UFC 222 and won the match via knockout becoming the first man to ever finish Edgar in MMA which earned him the Performance of the Night bonus. 
  • Later, he was scheduled to face Max Holloway for the UFC Featherweight Championship on July 7, 2018, at UFC 226 but he pulled from the fight. 
  • He fought against Max Holloway on 8th December 2018 in UFC 231 where he lost the fight. 
  • He was scheduled to face Chan Sung Jung on December 21, 2019, at UFC on ESPN+ 23. But he pulled out of the fight in early December citing a knee injury.
  • The bout against Jung eventually took place on October 18, 2020, at UFC Fight Night: Ortega vs. The Korean Zombie where he won the bout by unanimous decision.
