Christian McCaffrey is an American football running back. He is famous for currently playing for the San Francisco 49ers in the NFL. He initially gained recognition during his college football career at Stanford before being selected as the eighth overall pick by the Carolina Panthers in the 2017 NFL Draft. McCaffrey's standout sophomore season in 2015 earned him the AP College Football Player of the Year title and a Heisman Trophy finalist spot. Notably, he holds the NCAA record for the highest all-purpose yards in a single season, totaling 3,864. He is American by nationality while his ethnicity is Mixed as he is of Irish, German, English, and Scottish descent. He celebrated his 27th birthday in 2023. Raised in a sports-oriented family, his father, Ed McCaffrey, had a notable career as a wide receiver in the National Football League, while his mother, Lisa Sime, was a former soccer player at Stanford.

McCaffrey has three brothers: Max, who plays as a wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers, Dylan, a player for the Michigan Wolverines football team, and the youngest, Luke, a high school quarterback in Colorado. Carolina Panthers

  • The Carolina Panthers selected Christian McCaffrey in the first round with the eighth overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, making him the second running back chosen after Leonard Fournette. 
  • On May 4, 2017, he signed a four-year, $17.2 million contract with a $10.7 million signing bonus.
  • McCaffrey made his NFL debut in the season-opener against the San Francisco 49ers, showcasing versatility with 47 rushing yards, 38 receiving yards, and a touchdown in a 23–3 victory. 
  • In his rookie season, he set records for receptions by a rookie running back and finished with 435 rushing yards, 80 receptions, 651 receiving yards, and five receiving touchdowns.

  • Traded to the San Francisco 49ers on October 20, 2022, in a deal involving multiple draft picks, Christian McCaffrey made an immediate impact in his 49ers debut in Week 7 against the Kansas City Chiefs, contributing with 38 rushing yards and 24 receiving yards in a 44–23 loss. 
  • His versatility shone in Week 8 against the Los Angeles Rams, where he became the first 49ers running back to achieve passing, rushing, and receiving touchdowns in the same game, earning him the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 8.
