As a transgender rights activist, Janet Mock has openly shared her experiences through interviews, editorials, and her own podcast. She started as a staff editor for the website of people magazine and later as a web editor for five years. She was featured in an LGBT documentary "The OUT List" which screened on HBO on 27 June 2013, the documentary "Dressed" in 2011, and the fifth anniversary cover of "C☆NDY" magazine along with 13 other transgender women. Regarding her awards, she won 10 nominations, and 3 wins which include "Primetime Emmy Nomination", "Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards" (2020). She is also the two times winner of the "Black Reel Awards" for work "Pose" in 2020. She was also awarded for Media Excellence in "Social Media Campaign" and won "The Women's Way" with their Book Prize". She was named one of the Hollywood Reporter's "Women in Entertainment power 100", and was also named to "Oprah's SuperSoul 100" (2016) list of visionaries and influential leaders as well as named one of Good's GOOD 100 for "Building An Online Army to Defend #GirlsLikeUS". She also made appearances on "Real Time With Bill Maher", "The Colbert Report", "The Night Show". She appeared in Jay-z's music video for "Family Feud" directed by Ava Duvernay and guest-starred in Alex Garland's FX on Hulu limited series "DEVS".
