Marco Asensio Willemsen well known as Marco Asensio is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a winger and attacking midfielder for Real Madrid and the Spain national team. After starting out at Mallorca, he signed with Real Madrid in November 2014, being consecutively loaned to his former club as well as Espanyol.

Real Madrid doctors fear Asensio has torn ACL
Marco Asensio was forced to leave Real Madrid’s second preseason game against Arsenal with a left knee injury and Madrid’s medical staff fear the attacker tore his ACL, which could ultimately mean he might miss a big part of the 2019-2020 season, if not more.
“We’re a bit concerned. It’s his knee, he’s gone straight to the hospital for some tests so we’ll see… But it doesn’t look good. It’s the downside of today for us, we’ve lost a player and we’re pretty gutted. We’re gutted for Marco and hope it will be the least serious possible outcome,” said Zidane after the game.
Real Madrid has not published a medical report yet but Asensio’s injury appears to be serious. This is terrible news for Los Blancos, who were expecting the Spanish attacker to become an undisputed starter on Madrid’s right-wing this season.
Now, if the doctors confirm Asensio tore his ACL, Zidane will have to find someone else to play there on a consistent basis.

Club Career
- Marco started his career and also made his debut from the club Mallorca in the 2013-2014 season in Tercera Division.
- He made his first competitive appearance for the first team on 27 October 2013, playing the last six minutes in a 1–3 away loss against Recreativo de Huelva.
- After impressing in his first games, he was promoted to the first team by manager José Luis Oltra.
