Oleksandr Volodymyrovych Zinchenko is a Ukrainian professional football player. He currently plays for Premier League club Manchester City and the Ukraine national team. His playing position is a defender or midfielder.
Oleksandr Zinchenko started playing football for the youth team of Youth Sporitve School Karpatiya in 2004 and played until 2008. In 2008, he then joined the youth team of FC Monolit Illichivsk. Later on, in 2010, he played for the youth team of Shakhtar Donetsk where he became the captain of the youth team and played until 2014. On 12 February 2015, he signed a contract with Russian Premier League team Ufa and went on to play one season at the club. On 4 July 2016, he signed for Premier League club Manchester City for an undisclosed fee believed to be around £1.7 million. On 26 August 2016, he was loaned to Eredivisie club PSV for the 2016-17 season where he made 17 appearances for the club. He then returned to Manchester City for the 2017-18 season and made his debut for the club on 24 October 2017 in the EFL Cup. He has since won four Premier League titles, four League Cups, and an FA Cup with the club.
On the international level, Oleksandr Zinchenko has represented Ukraine at various age levels. He has represented Ukraine at U16, U17, U18, U19, U21, and the senior level. He made his senior international team debut for Ukraine on 12 October 2015. He was part of Ukraine’s squad that played in Euro 2016 and Euro 2020.
