Sean Patrick Duffy is an American politician, prosecutor, former sports commentator, and reality television personality. He first entered public life as a cast member on The Real World: Boston, 1998's Road Rules: All-Stars, and 2002's Real World/Road Rules Challenge: Battle of the Seasons, before going on to serve as district attorney of Ashland County, Wisconsin, and the U.S. Representative for Wisconsin's 7th congressional district. He is a member of the Republican Party and supported Donald Trump's 2016 presidential bid.

Sean Duffy's resignation leaves Democrats optimistic in strongly Republican 7th District

In a normally Republican stronghold, Democratic candidates are eyeing the 7th Congressional District after U.S. Rep. Sean Duffy announced he will be resigning next month.  Duffy, a Wausau-based Republican who has represented the district since 2011, said Monday he will be leaving Congress in September to spend more time with his growing family after learning his ninth child will be born with a heart defect. Duffy will be replaced in a special election, for which Gov. Tony Evers has yet to set a date. Duffy said in a Monday Facebook post that he will step down on Sept. 23. The congressman said he needs to take a pause, adding that his wife, Fox News contributor Rachel Campos-Duffy, has been his "rock" throughout his professional and personal life.

"We have eight kids at home," he said. "Congressional schedules, contrary to popular belief, are pretty rigorous... I need to take some time and be with my wife and my kids and take care of this little one that's going to need more time from me."
