Cher is also known by her other names, Cheryl LaPierre, Cher Bono, and Cherilyn Sarkisian La Piere Bono Allman. Cher was born to her father, John Sarkisian (a truck driver), and her mother, Georgia Holt (a former model and retired actress). Her father had drug and gambling problems and was rarely home when Cher was an infant. When Cher was ten months old, her parents got divorced and her mother remarried actor John Southall, with whom she had another daughter, Georganne. However, her mother and Southall ended the relationship, when Cher was nine years old. Thereafter, her mother married bank manager Gilbert LaPierre, who adopted Cher and Georganne.

As well, Cher holds American nationality and belongs to the White ethnicity. She is of English, Irish, German, and Cherokee descent on her mother's side, whilst she has Armenian and American ancestry on her father's side. Cher's Personal Life: Husband, Boyfriend and Dating

Cher married twice in her life. Firstly, she married Sonny Bono, an American singer, actor, and politician. Cher met her future husband, Sony Bono while he was working for record producer Phill Spector in November 1962. Eventually, Cher and Sonny fell in love, and they wed in October 1964. The couple's first child, Chaz Bono was born on March 4, 1969. However, Cher and Sonny divorced in June 1975 after experiencing some marital issues in 1972. In 1998, Sonny Bono died in a skiing accident. At his funeral, Cher gave an emotional eulogy and referred to him as " the most unforgettable character" she had ever met.

Just four days after finalizing her divorce from her first husband Sonny, Cher remarried rock legend Gregg Allman on June 30, 1975. Allman was co-founder of The Allman Brothers Band. But, Cher filed for divorce barely nine days later due to his addiction to heroin and alcohol. However, they were able to get back together within a month.

She gave birth to Elijah Blue with Allman in 1976. Unfortunately, Cher's second marriage also ended in divorce in 1979 after only a short period of time.
