An Irish hurler who played as a right corner-forward for the Waterford senior team is named for John Mullane. During the 2001 championship, he joined the team and became a regular member of the starting fifteen. Altogether, he has won four Munster winners' medals, one National League winners' medal, and five All-Star awards. Whereas he ended up as n All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion. He is a two-time Munster medalist with De La Salle. He has also won three county club championship medals. He is one of the best players ever never to win the Liam MacCarthy Cup. He announced his retirement from inter-county hurling in January 2013. He was captain of the side in 2007 when he won his sole Railway Cup medal following a 2-22 to 2-19 defeat of Connacht. Besides this, he also made appearances on RTE2's 3rd season of Second Captains Live. He has been co commentating major hurling matches on RTE Radio 1 since the year 2017.
