Joshua Otis Turner shortly named Josh Turner is an American country music and gospel singer-songwriter, as well as an actor. He released his debut album's title track, "Long Black Train" which became his breakthrough single release. The clip has a nostalgic feel that recalls the country music dance series "Club Dance", which ran through the 1990s on The Nashville Network. The song (fully titled "I Can Tell By the Way You Dance (You're Gonna Love Me Tonight)") was one of the biggest in Gosdin's hit-filled career. It topped the country chart for the artist from Woodland, Alabama in June 1984, the first of three No.1s that also included 1988's "Set 'Em Up Joe" and "I'm Still Crazy" in the year 1989. "I Can Tell By The Way You Dance" is taken from Turner's latest album 'Country State Of Mind', which is out now on MCA Nashville.

Josh Turner was born on 20th November 1977 in Hannah, South Carolina with the birth name/real name of Joshua Otis Turner. He is American by nationality and he belongs to American-White ethnicity. His race is White. He is Christian by religion and his horoscope sign is Scorpio. His parents are Joe Turner (father) and Karen Turner (mother). He has one brother and sister with whom he grew up. His brother's name is Matt Turner and his sister's name is Carrie Turner. Growing up in the church, he founded a gospel quartet called Thankful Hearts, where he sang bass, in addition to singing the bass and baritone parts in choirs. He learned classical vocal technique and how to take care of his voice and avoid developing further problems as he developed a lesion on his right vocal cord. As of 2020, he celebrated his 42nd birthday. 

Concerning his education, he attended enrolled in Hannah-Pamplico High School where he spent some time at Francis Marion University before moving to Nashville, Tennessee, to pursue a career in music and enrolled in Belmont University.

  • Later, a song called "Me and God" was released as a single to Christian radio featured members of the band Diamond Rio on background vocals which reached a peak of No. 16 on the country charts.
  • His album Josh "Turner: Live At The Ryman" was recorded in April and is available exclusively through Cracker Barrel restaurants.
  • He along with veteran songwriters Brett James and Don Schlitz, wrote a song entitled "Say Yes"; recorded and released by singer Dusty Drake in the year 2007 peaked at No. 36.

  • The album was released on 9th February 2010, along with a deluxe version. "All Over Me" was released in April 2010 as the album's second single; it became his fourth Number One. 
  • He then shot the video for "I Wouldn't Be a Man" on 27th September 2010 in Nashville, which was the third single from Haywire. "Haywire" is now certified gold.
  • His fifth studio album, "Punching Bag", was released via MCA Nashville on 12th June 2012. 
  • He released "Live Across America" with twelve of his songs recorded in concert in different cities in 2012. 
  • The lead single from his upcoming sixth studio album, "Lay Low", was released to country radio on 1st September 2014 which reached a peak of No. 25 on Country Airplay. 
  • The second single, "Hometown Girl", was released to radio on 31st May 2016. 
  • The album, titled "Deep South", was released on 10th March 2017, preceded by two sneak preview songs, "Deep South" and "Where the Girls Are" released on 23rd February 2017.
  • His second single "Hometown Girl" from "Deep South" peaked at No. 2 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart and peaked at No. 1 on the Mediabase chart, which makes it Turner's 5th No. 1 single.
