Michael David Quattlebaum Jr. better known as Mykki Blanco is an American rapper, performance artist, poet, and activist. She is the most compelling rapper of her generation. She is known to her thousands of fans as a gender-bending rebel, someone who is unafraid to be herself and push boundaries in an industry that often demands conformity. She rose to fame after the release of her debut EP "Mykki Blanco & the Mutual Angeles" in 2012. Since then she has released several studio albums, EPs, and Mixtapes including, "Betty Rubble: The Initiation" (2013), "Gay Dog Food" (2014), and "Mykki" (2016). She has collaborated with several artists including Kanye West, Teyana Taylor, and blood orange. Mykki Blanco was born in Orange County, California, the United States on April 2, 1986. Her birth name is Michael David Quattlebaum Jr. Her father, Michael Quattlebaum Sr., was an IT specialist, and her mother, Deborah Butler, was a paralegal at the North Carolina Patent and Trademark office. Her parents divorced when she was just 2 years old. She grew up in San Mateo County, California before moving to Raleigh, North Carolina. At the age of 16, Blanco moved to NYC where she discovered and embraced the transgender lifestyle, and then she sought to bring transgender and LGBTQ+ art to the mainstream.
