‘I’m a bad influence’ - Nick Kyrgios warns Stefanos Tsitsipas to stay away from him
Kyrgios and Tsitsipas provided one of the most fascinating doubles pairing in men’s tennis at the Citi Open earlier this week. Part of the fascination in the match was due to their previous feed from last year, with both players taking shots at each other. However, it appears as though they have buried the hatchet following their doubles match. The duo lost to Wimbledon 2019 doubles champion, Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah, but will continue at the Citi Open in the singles draw. Kyrgios though sent a candid message to Tsitsipas, warning his playing partner to stay away from him.“He's only just begun,” he said. “Hopefully he doesn't make the same mistakes I have.“If he keeps his head down, he can do some special things. “He smells good as well. “Every time before we’d serve I would [deep inhale]—‘not bad.’ I’m gonna stay as far away as possible unless it’s a doubles court because I’m a bad influence.”
