She was famous for the Latin Music and Selena Quintanilla made her recording debut in the 80’s on to become an award-winning record artist in the Latin music scene with albums like Amor Prohibido and Selena Live and “Dreaming of You” album was her last album released posthumously in 1995. For her contribution to music, she was honored with several awards such as Grammys, Billboard awards, and ASCAP awards among others.

Selena Quintanilla was born on 16 April 1971. Her birth place was in Lake Jackson, Texas in the United States. She held American nationality. She was born to a father, Abraham Quintanilla Jr., and a mother, Marcella Ofelia Samora. She had two siblings, Abraham III Quintanilla, a brother, and Suzette Quintanilla. Her zodiac sign was Aries. Career
As she got the background of a musical family, she got trained and joined his family band and start playing at weddings and clubs. The band continued to tour by opening for larger Tejano acts in the southwest United States. For larger and larger audiences, the band learned to play many different styles of music. They played rhythm and blues-based music in larger cities and played more traditional Tejano music in small Texas towns. She was voted the female artist of the year at the Tejano Music Awards in 1988.
As she joined EMI Records in 1989. The head of the company’s new Latin music division Mr. Jose Behar knew she could take the music in a wide audience not only Tejano fans and had a great supporting company on her side. The song with Alvaro Torres, called “Buenos Amigos” became a hit and went to number one on Billboard’s Latin chart and introduced her to audiences throughout the United States in 1991.
She did a live concert in Houston in February 1994 with more than sixty thousand people and that makes her swelled and in 1994 her album Selena Live won a Grammy Award for the best Mexican American album. Her album “Amor Prohibido” makes sales of more than one million copies and increased her fame and was the top-selling Latin album of the year and named the Tejano Music Awards album of the year too.
Along with the singing and performing live shows she owns her own Boutique named Selena Etc. South Texas-based boutique, salon, and clothing store which was built by the Latin superstar Selena, Selena, Etc. was built & finished on January 7, 1994, in Corpus Christi, Texas which was the headquarter building.

Selena Quintanilla died at the young age of 23 on March 31, 1995. She was shot and killed at Corpus Christi, Texas by Yolanda Saldivar, her friend, and former manager of her Selena Etc. boutiques. To date, her murder case became a mystery. One of her Former friend and Former Manager of her boutique, Yoland Saldivar shot her in the back severing an artery and killed. The complaint against her was and found that Saldivar had embezzled more than $100,000 from Selene’s account using forged checks. After Quintanilla’s family confronted her and began investigating her complaints, Selena was asked to come motel alone and asked for more demanded the records. Saldivar then took a 38 Tauras Model 85 revolver from her purse and pointed it at the singer and shot her once in the back after trying to flee from the motel. Saldivar was arrested after the long 9 hrs of hiding inside the hotel with the gun and the court sentenced her first-degree murder lifetime prison with no payroll for 30 years.
