And I knew what it was like to have my dancing taken away from me, and yeah I think that I wanted to prove I can do this. Amy also explained how the chronic illness works, saying: 'Crohn's disease is inflammation to the digestive system, it can start at the mouth and it can affect the entire colon. On Saturday, JJ Chalmers paid a touching tribute to Amy and praised her for 'never letting him down' despite her daily battle with Crohn's disease, admitting she 'could wake up any day and be hospitalized due to the condition. JJ and Amy were voted off Strictly 2020 after missing out on a place in the semi-finals, as the judges voted to save Jamie Laing and Karen Hauer following a tense dance-off. JJ, 32, also shared a heartfelt message with fans on social media. "Honestly I'm physically, mentally, and emotionally battered! But it's been the most incredible adventure, which has lasted far longer than I ever hoped and I've loved every second. After finishing bottom of the leaderboard at the end of Saturday's Musicals Week extravaganza, Amy and JJ found themselves in the dreaded dance-off alongside Jamie Laing and Karen Hauer. That meant they got to reprise their Charleston to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and it was very nearly enough to keep them in the competition with Shirley Ballas forced to use her casting vote after Craig Revel-Horwood saved Jamie and Karen but Motsi went for JJ and Amy. Shirley chose Jamie and JJ and Amy being voted out gave Strictly its most emotional exit of 2020 so far.
