Her parents however were diagnosed with cancer about the same time during the 1990s, and her mother succumbed to lung cancer in 1997.

Growing up, she attended the local state school Robinsfield Infants in St John's Wood, north London, then joined the King Alfred's School. While in she played drama roles including a polar bear in 'The Snow Queen and a mock turtle in 'Alice in Wonderland. 

She then took history and sociology for A-levels as two advanced-level subjects at the Guildford School of Acting.

  • Gaby Roslin started her career presenting "Hippo" on the Superchannel and then Motormouth on ITV for 4 years from 1989 until 1992. After which she presented an early-morning program "The Big Breakfast" however, she left the show in 1994 and Roslin continued with his replacement, Mark Little, until 1996.
  • She then presented "Children in Need" from 1995 until 2004 and became the only presenter to stay on the air for the duration.
