A Scottish professional footballer, Kal Naismith plays as a utility player for Championship club Luton Town. He started his senior career in his home country with Rangers and following loan spells with Cowdenbeath and Partick Thistle, he moved south of the border to join Accrington in 2013. He made 79 appearances as a Stanley player before Cook took him to Fratton Park, where he played 95 times and impressed most in the 2016/2017 League Two campaign when he scored 13 goals - including one in a 3-1 win at Kenilworth Road - and provided 10 assists on their way to being crowned champions.  As well, he can play as an out and out striker, as a winger, in midfield, and in defense as a left-back or center back however, he also represented Scotland at under-16 and under-17 level.   • Kal Naismith commenced his football career being loaned to Cowdenbeath and Partick Thistle during the 2011-2012 season whereas he made his debut as a substitute on 29th July 2012, in a 2-1 win over Brechin City in the Challenge Cup after his return from the loan as he scored his first goal for Rangers against Forres Mechanics in the Second Round of the 2012 Scottish Cup. 

Cowdenbeath (loan)

  • Kal became the member of  Scottish Second Division club Cowdenbeath on loan at the end of August 2011 where he made his debut on 10th September against East Fife, going on to score his first goals for the club on 24th September scoring both goals in their 2-1 win over Albion Rovers.

Partick Thistle (loan)

  • Naismith joined Scottish First Division club, Partick Thistle, on loan until the end of the season on 5th January 2012 and made his debut on 13th January playing from the start in their 1-0 defeat to Hamilton Academical.

Accrington Stanley

  • Kal made his debut for the club on 10th August 2013, starting in a 2-2 home draw against Portsmouth as he scored his first goal for Stanley on 22nd October 2013, netting the winner in a 2-1 home success over Bristol Rovers.

Portsmouth

  • Kal Naismith signed a three-year deal with fellow League Two side Portsmouth, for an undisclosed fee on 28th May 2015 but Portsmouth later announced that he rejected a new deal from the club, deciding to pursue other options elsewhere at the end of 2017-2018 season.

Wigan Athletic

  • Naismith signed a three-year deal with the side Wigan Athletic on 30th May 2018 however he scored his first goal for Wigan in a 4-2 loss at Sheffield United on 27th October 2018 as he left Wigan Athletic via mutual consent on 7th January 2021.

Luton Town

  • Kal signed for Championship side Luton Town on a permanent deal on 15th January 2021. The versatile 28-year-old has become the Hatters' first signing of the January transfer window and is eligible to face Bournemouth in the Sky Bet Championship tomorrow afternoon.

"I'm excited to meet the lads and I'm delighted I'm here, looking forward to getting started.  "I loved my time at Wigan and I'm very grateful for the opportunity that the club gave me to go and play Championship football. There were some great lads and staff members, it was excellent for me and my career, but I'm looking forward to the next step now.
  • "It has been a tough few months and I'm just looking forward to getting back into that environment with the lads and back in the Championship, which is a great league.

Kal Naismith was left shattered by the sudden death of his long-term girlfriend. Just 22, she suffered an epileptic seizure, leaving Kal broken and questioning how he would ever move on. Suddenly his status as a talented young footballer with English side Accrington Stanley meant nothing as he tried to come to terms with losing a partner he had been with since he was 15. Naismith and fellow Rangers player Kyle Hutton were abducted in Edinburgh by two men and driven around the city in Hutton's car before they were dumped in the Niddrie area of Edinburgh on 20th September 2010. The pair was then mugged as the thieves stole the car. Later, both the thieves were convicted and prosecuted, and the car was retrieved.
