Douglas John Malin, who is an English actor was professionally known as Mark Eden. He was well recognized for his portrayal of villainous Alan Bradley in "Coronation Street" from 1986 to 1989. He decided to become an actor in his teens after falling in love with Shakespeare but was unable to get his career off the ground for years. He played Marco Polo in the first series of "Doctor Who" and acted in the 1965 film "Doctor Zhivago", starring Julie Christie and Omar Sharif. Other roles came in TV shows "The Avengers", "Lord Peter Wimsey", "Doctors and Casualty". The last film he starred in was the TV movie "An Adventure In Space And Time", which was released in 2013. "Coronation Street" actor Mark Eden died at the age of 92 on 1st January 2020.  He had Alzheimer's disease in later life and was admitted to hospital with the disease in November 2020. His agent said he had been living with Alzheimer's for some time and died peacefully in hospital on Friday morning. "He is survived by his wife Sue, his daughter Polly, his stepson Saul, and granddaughter Emma," he said. "We ask that their privacy be respected at this very difficult time." But Eden's and Joan's relationship was not exceptional, they divorced in 1959, and Mark later tied the knot with Diana Smith in 1971, whom he had met in 1971; she later acted under the name Diana Eden. She was eighteen years his junior. They had a daughter named Polly. The couple also got separated and Eden married Sue Nicholls in 1993, his co-star in "Coronation Street" and the daughter of Lord Harmar-Nicholls. They remained married until Eden's death. Furthermore, talking about his sexual orientation, he was straight.
