A professional Australian rules footballer who is currently playing for the Carlton Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL) is named for Patrick Cripps. He became the second-youngest player to win the award when he first won it in 2015 and won the Leigh Matthews Trophy in 2019. He has served as Carlton co-captain since the 2019 season. He played junior football in Northampton, and then moved to Perth and played juniors and colts for the East Fremantle Football Club in the West Australian Football League.
