About Sam Coffey, American Soccer Player

Samantha Grace Coffey professionally known as Sam Coffey is an American soccer player. She currently plays for Portland Thorns FC in the National Women's Soccer League. Her playing position is a midfielder.

Sam Coffey played for the youth team of Match-Fit Academy and New York Soccer Club where she was a five-time "region 1 team" honoree and named an all-American. In 2013, she played for the Master's School where she was selected as team MVP all four years and was a team captain for two seasons. In 2017, she began her college soccer career with the Boston College Eagles and went on to play two seasons. In December 2018, she was transferred to Pennsylvania State University to play for the Nittany Lions starting in the 2019 season and went to help the team to win the 2019 Big Ten Women's Soccer Tournament. In January 2022, he signed for Portland Thorns FC on a two-year contract for an undisclosed fee. She made her debut for the team in the 2022 NWSL Challenge Cup on 18 March 2022. 

On the international level, Sam Coffey has represented the United States at various age levels. She has represented the United States at U18, U19, U20, U23, and the senior level. She was part of the United States’s U20 squad that was runner-up at the 2018 CONCACAF Women's U20 Championship held in Trinidad and Tobago. In June 2022, she earned her first call-up to the United States women's national team for two friendlies against Colombia. Despite being uncapped, she was later added as an injury replacement for Ashley Hatch after the group stage of the 2022 CONCACAF W Championship. She is yet to make her senior international team debut for the United States.
