He is best known for his 11-year-long stint as bartender Sam Malone on NBC's "Cheers" from the year 1982 to 1993. He is also better known for her role as Jack Holden in the films "Three Men and a Baby" and "Three Men and a Little Lady", and Dr. John Becker on the CBS sitcom "Becker". Additionally, he has also starred in the CBS dramas "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" and "CSI: Cyber as D.B. Russell". In the year 1975, he married Cassandra Coates, a producer. On 24th December 1979, while giving birth to their first daughter Kate, Coates suffered a stroke. He spent several years caring for her and helping her recuperate. They later adopted a second daughter, Alexis.
