Harriet Wran was born in 1988 and is the daughter of the late Neville Wran who served as the Premier of New South Wales from 1976 to 1986. His father was the national president of the Australian Labor Party (ALP) from 1980 to 1986 and chairman of both the Lionel Murphy Foundation and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) from 1986 to 1991. In August 2014, Wran went to McNulty’s unit in Redfern with her boyfriend, 35-year-old Michael Lee, and 29-year-old Lloyd Edward Haines. There were a violent struggle and Lee and Haines stabbed McNulty to death. McNulty was a drug dealer. Both pleaded guilty to murder, robbery in company causing wounding and grievous bodily harm. She was released from Silverwater Prison in September 2016 after serving two years in custody. At the time of her release, she said she was still recovering from her ice addiction.
Harriet Wran on drugs and stolen goods charges after Central Coast arrest
Harriet Wran, the daughter of former NSW premier Neville Wran, has been charged with possessing drugs and stolen goods on the Central Coast. The arrest comes less than three years after Wran's release from Silverwater prison, where she served time for robbery and acting as an accessory to murder. A male passenger fled as officers approached the car at the United Petroleum service station on the Pacific Highway just after 1.30am. Police searched Wran and the Holden Colorado she was in, allegedly finding drug paraphernalia and a small quantity of a crystal substance believed to be drugs. Officers also seized 32 items alleged to have been stolen, including laptops, mobile phones, credit cards and a large amount of mail. Wran was charged with drug possession, goods in custody and not displaying P-plates. She was granted bail and is due to face Wyong Local Court on April 3. The male passenger has not been found. The arrest comes after Wran's release from Silverwater Correctional Centre, where she served two years behind bars for robbery and acting as an accessory to murder. She was convicted over the death of small-time drug dealer Daniel McNulty, who was murdered in a public housing block in Redfern in August 2014.
