Kamal Haasan is an Indian actor, filmmaker, screenwriter, television presenter, playback singer, and politician. He has mainly worked in Tamil movies, but he has also done Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, Kannada, and Bengali movies. Throughout the Indian film industry, Haasan's peers have appreciated his contributions to cinema, as well as the Tamil film industry, has acknowledged him as having a major impact on actors and directors. Kamal Haasan was born on November 7 1954 in Paramakudi, Tamil Nadu, India. His birth name is Parthasarathy Srinivasan, but his later father changed his name to Kamal Haasan. Haasan was born into a Tamil Iyengar Brahmin family to D.Srinivasan who was a lawyer and freedom fighter, and Rajalakshmi who was a housewife. He is the youngest child of his parents. He has two brothers named Charuhasan and Chandrahasan, who are also actors. and a sister Nalini Raghu, who is an Indian classical dancer.

In addition, Kamal Haasan is Indian by nationality. His zodiac sign is Scorpio. Regarding his faith, Haasan is an atheist.

Regarding his education, Haasan received his primary education in ParamaKudi. Later on, he attended Sir M.Ct. Muthiah Chettiar Boys Higher Secondary School and Hindu Higher Secondary  School in Madras.

  • Kamal Haasan began his career as a child artist in the 1960 Tamil-language film Kalathur Kannamma, for which he received the President's, Gold Medal.
  • His first screen debut was in a dancing scene in the 1970 movie Maanavan.
  • Later on, he continued to work as Thankappan's assistant on movies like Kasi Yathirai (1971) and Annai Velankani (1973).
  • He then appeared in Arangetram (1973), Sollathaan Ninaikkiren (1973), Gumasthavin Magal (1974), Aval Oru Thodar Kathai (1974), Kanyakumari (1974) and Naan Avanillai (1974).

  • In 1982, he won the first National Film Award for his performance in Moondram Pirai (1982). He also played the same character in the Hindi version of the film, Sadma.
  • His other 1980s films are Yeh To Kamaal Ho Gaya (1982), Sagara Sangamam (1983), Raaj Tilak (1984), Saagar (198), Oka Radha Iddary Krishnulu (1986), and Chanakyan (1989).
  • Haasan starred in Mani Ratnam's 1987 film, Nayakan, for which he won his second Indian National Award. the film is listed among Time's top 100 films of all time and was India's entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the 1987 Academy Awards.
  • Following his success in the latter, Haasan won his third National Film Award for Best Actor for Indian (1996).
  • In 1994, he became the first actor to charge 15 million per film.
