In the 2018 IPL auction, Prithvi Shaw was bought by Delhi Daredevils for ₹1.2 crores. Prithvi Shaw was selected in India's Test squad for the final two Tests against England in August 2018, but he didn't get a chance to play. A month later, he was named in India's Test squad for their series against West Indies and made his Test debut on 4 October 2018. Shaw made an impressive debut, scoring a century in the match and became the youngest Indian to score a century on Test debut at the age of 18 years and 319 days. India won the second Test, and Shaw was named the Player of the Series. In January 2020, Shaw was named in India's One Day International (ODI) squad for their series against New Zealand, and he made his ODI debut for India on 5 February 2020.
